Fountains High School is a special school and all pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). During the 2024–2025 academic year, the school used information routinely gathered through EHCP reviews, attendance monitoring, behaviour tracking, and safeguarding systems to consider whether pupils with different needs or characteristics were experiencing barriers to inclusion or participation. Particular attention was given to pupils with communication and interaction needs, social, emotional and mental health difficulties, and complex medical conditions, supported through the use of Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and personalised regulation strategies.

Review of this information informed targeted adjustments to provision, including environmental adaptations, staffing deployment, and the use of personalised regulation and communication strategies. Attendance and engagement improved for several cohorts of pupils following these adjustments, and there was a reduction in repeated high‑level behaviour incidents for pupils requiring intensive co‑regulation. Prejudice‑related concerns were monitored through MyConcern and addressed promptly, with staff training supporting consistent, trauma‑informed responses. Equality considerations continue to inform decision‑making to ensure pupils are supported to access learning, develop independence, and feel a strong sense of belonging within the school community.
