Paris Trip Countdown!
Post-16 Prospectus Open Evening
On Wednesday 8th October, we were delighted to welcome prospective students and their families to our Post-16 Prospectus Open Evening. Visitors enjoyed meeting staff, exploring our facilities, and learning more about the exciting opportunities available within our Post-16 provision.
It was wonderful to see so many families engaging with our school community and discovering what makes our Post-16 offer so special. We would like to thank everyone who attended and look forward to welcoming many of them to Fountains Post 16 at Burton South Derbyshire College in the future.
Vocational Studies at Hobbycraft
They have received training on the packing stations and, when time allows, are also working on the written elements of the course alongside their practical learning.
The students are continuing to broaden their independence skills by travelling to and from Hobbycraft using public transport, an important part of their personal and vocational development.
We are incredibly proud of how well the students have embraced this opportunity, and we look forward to seeing their confidence, independence and skills continue to grow.
Macmillian Coffee Morning
Students and staff enjoyed taking part in our Macmillan Coffee Morning, coming together to chat, enjoy delicious treats and raise money for a fantastic cause. It was wonderful to see everyone supporting the event and helping to make a difference. Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped make the morning such a success.
Coffee Bean – Card Payments from 19 October
We are pleased to announce that Coffee Bean will begin accepting card payments on Monday 19 October 2026.
A new card reader will be available, making it easier for customers to pay for their refreshments.Post 16 Visit to Tesco
Three of our Post-16 students had a wonderful time taking part in a hands-on work experience visit at Tesco Burton this week.
A huge thank you to Michelle, Tesco's Charity Champion, for hosting such an interactive and enjoyable visit. Students had the opportunity to learn how the tills and barcode scanners work and explore different areas of the store, from the chilly walk-in freezers to the warm, delicious-smelling bakery.
The visit ended with a food tasting session, where students were encouraged to try new tastes and textures.
Opportunities like this are invaluable in helping our students develop confidence, independence, and important life skills for the future. We are incredibly proud of how well they engaged throughout the visit and of the positive way they represented our school.
