At Fountains High School, we believe that some of the most important learning takes place beyond the classroom. Our enrichment programme provides pupils with a wide range of experiences that broaden horizons, build confidence and help develop the skills needed for successful and fulfilling adult lives.

We are committed to ensuring that every pupil has access to meaningful, inclusive and enjoyable experiences that support their personal development. Through clubs, educational visits, residential experiences, outdoor learning, sporting activities and employer-linked programmes, pupils are encouraged to explore new interests, develop their talents and discover what they can achieve.

Our enrichment offer supports the development of resilience, independence, communication, teamwork, leadership and self-confidence. These experiences complement our curriculum and contribute to our wider aim of preparing pupils for adulthood and enabling them to become active members of their communities.

Clubs and Activities

As well as our popular Breakfast Club, we offer a wide range of lunchtime and after-school clubs throughout the year, providing opportunities for pupils of all ages and abilities to participate in activities that match their interests and aspirations.

Our club offer is reviewed regularly and is shaped, wherever possible, by pupil interests and feedback. Through student voice activities, pupils are encouraged to share their views, suggest new clubs and help shape the wider enrichment programme. This helps us provide activities that are meaningful, engaging and relevant to our learners.

Residential Experiences

Residential visits are a key part of the enrichment programme at Fountains High School. They provide pupils with unique opportunities to develop independence, resilience, confidence and social skills away from their familiar environment.

Forest School

As a Forest School, we recognise the value of outdoor learning in supporting children's development and wellbeing. Forest School provides regular opportunities for pupils to learn and explore in natural environments through hands-on experiences, practical problem-solving and supported risk-taking.

Through regular Forest School sessions, pupils are supported to develop:

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award provides pupils with opportunities to challenge themselves, achieve personal goals and develop skills for life. Through volunteering, skills development, physical activities and expeditions, pupils learn perseverance, commitment and teamwork whilst gaining nationally recognised achievements.

Industrial Cadets Bronze

Through the Industrial Cadets Bronze Award, pupils work alongside employers and industry professionals to develop employability skills and gain insight into the world of work. Educational Visits and Cultural Experiences

Educational visits form an important part of our wider enrichment programme. Visits are carefully planned to enhance learning, develop cultural capital and provide pupils with experiences that they may not otherwise encounter.

Fountainsbury Festival is a highlight of our enrichment programme, providing Mosaic and Kaleidoscope learners with the opportunity to experience a vibrant festival atmosphere through music, performances, creative activities and food. The event helps to broaden pupils' experiences, develop cultural awareness and create positive shared memories with their peers.

Preparing for Adulthood Through Enrichment

All enrichment opportunities at Fountains High School are designed to support our Preparation for Adulthood curriculum and wider Personal Development offer.
